Anambra Coordinated (Pharmaceuticals) Wholesale Centre (CWC) for
Pharmaceuticals and allied products is a Project of the State aimed at
sanitizing the chaotic drug distribution system in the State and environs,
and streamlining the distribution channel for medicines and pharmaceuticals
in a regulated environment –
in line with the 2nd National Drug Distribution Guidelines (NDDG) 2012.
WHAT WE DO AND HOW!
Anambra Pharmaceutical Hub is an ambitious project by the State Government under the Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo Administration. It is a project conceived to eradicate the menace of fake, adulterated and substandard medicines in the country, with Anambra as the focal point. It is designed to position Anambra, and by extension Nigeria as a prime destination for pharmaceuticals in West Africa and Africa at large. The Anambra Pharmaceutical Hub comprises of two prongs.
Nigeria currently imports about 75% of all her pharmaceuticals, and of the remaining 25% manufactured locally most of the APIs (Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients) are also sourced from outside the country. In other words, Nigeria is almost 100% dependent on other countries for her pharmaceutical needs. This poses a serious security risk as exposed during the COVID- 19 pandemic which saw the breakdown of global supply chains.
To fill this gap, and to put Anambra and Nigeria at large on the world map as a preferred destination for innovation and commerce, Two hundred (200) hectares of land at Ogboji Community has been enmarked for Anambra State Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Hub.

The Project is strategically located in Oba, Idemmili South Local Government Area of Anambra State on 50 hectares of land.
